Arrival Leh: Arrive Leh by morning flight and transfer to the hotel. After welcome drink / breakfast at the hotel, take complete rest for acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh (11,500 ft / 3500 mtrs). In the late afternoon visit the city centre for leisurely walks in the main markets for general orientation. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.


In Leh - Vist Shey Palace / Thiksey & Hemis monasteries:The morning is at leisure for further acclimatization to the high altitude and rarefied air of Ladakh. After leisurely breakfast, proceed on sightseeing & cultural tour of Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery & Stok Palace Museum. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.

Day 3

Likir – Yangthang : 4 to 5 hours: After breakfast drive to Likir village (58 kms. from Leh) which is the starting point of the trek. Before starting the terk, you may like to visit the 15th century Likir monastery, a major Gelug-pa monastic foundation of Ladakh. The first day's trek leads westward, crossing the Phobe La (3580m) to reach the village of Sumdo. From here walk steadily upwards to cross the Chagatse La pass (3630 m), descend to the village of Yangthang (3630m) and camp near the stream. At an hour's walk from here is Ridzong monastery, a major monastery worth a visit during the next day's trek.

Day 4

Yangthang –Tsermangchen la (3750m) -Hemis Shukpachen : 2-3 hours: From Yangthang, the trail leads northwards, enroute crossing a stream before climbing to the Tsermangchen La top. Walk down from the pass to the pretty village of Hemis Shukpachan, so named after the grove of cedars found here (rather unusual for Ladakh). Camp overnight near the streams surrounded by shady willows.

Day 5

Hemis Shukpachen - Mebtak La (3750m) -Ang : 3 hours : Today’s trek is fairly easy to begin with, leading upwards between two hillocks but climbs steeply to the Mebtak La pass which is marked by prayer flags. From the pass walk down a gorge to approach the charming village of Ang. Camp here for the night.

Day 6

Ang to Temisgam and Nurla: 3 hours: The last day's trek is very easy as it is downhill all the way to the main road to Temisgam. Here transport will be waiting for the journey to the highway at Nurla and on to Leh. While driving to Leh, take a detour across the Indus to visit the 11th. Century Alchi-Choskor, oldest surviving monastic complex of Ladakh and famous for its ancient frescoes and architecture - a UNESCO listed.heritage site. Dinner & overnight at the hotel in Leh.

Day 07

At Leh: Leisurely day at Leh for rest after the trek. You may like to visit Leh Palace, Sankar Gompa & Shanti Stupa on this day. Rest of the day free to explore the city centre and the markets for picking up souvenirs to take back home. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.

Day 08

Early morning transfer to the airport for taking the flight back home.
