Arrival Leh: Arrive Leh by morning flight and transfer to the hotel. After welcome drink breakfast at the hotel, take complete rest for acclimatization to the high altitude of Leh (11,500 ft / 3500 mtrs). In the late afternoon visit the city centre for leisurely walks in the main markets for general orientation. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.


Vist Shey Palace / Thiksey & Hemis: The morning is at leisure for further acclimatization to the high altitude and rarefied air of Ladakh. After leisurely breakfast, proceed on sightseeing & cultural tour of Shey Palace, Thiksey Monastery, Hemis Monastery & Stok Palace Museum. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.

Day 3

Leh -Lamayuru: In the morning drive to Lamayuru (127 kms), enroute visiting the 15th century Likir Monastery and then Bazgo Castle (15th century capital of Lower Ladakhi kingdom). At Lamayuru check-in at your hotel. Rest of the day at leisure to explore Lamayuru village and the dramatically located Lamayuru monastery which is one of the oldest in Ladakh. Overnight in hotel / camp.

Day 4

Lamayuru - Wanla (3-4 hours): After breakfast, set off on the day's trek. The trail follows a stream flowing down by the villages for some distance and then climbs to the small pass of Prinkiti La (3750m). From here descend gradually to the small village of Shila, from where it's a short distance to Wanla (3250m) where we set up camp near the village. Spend the afternoon exploring the village and the ancient monastery of Wanla, which is an important heritage site of Ladakh.

Day 5

Wanla -Hinju (3720 m) 4-5 hours: From Wanla, follow a dusty road to reach the small village of Phanjila (3410 m) and thence walk through the scattered village of Ursi. Thereafter walk through a narrow gorge till a water mill is reached at the far end of the village, thence trek through the village of Hinju (3720 m) and proceed to the campsite near a Doksa or herder's camp.

Day 6

Hinju –Kongski La- Sumda Doksa (4430 m): about 6 hours: From Hinju follow the ascending trail to the ridge below Kongski-la (4950m), where you might spot some rare wild life of Ladakh. From here begins the gradual ascent to the Kongski-La top, which is surrounded by magnificent views of mountains ranges. The descent from the pass is quite steep with loose moraine causing difficulty in walking till the left side of valley floor is taken to reach the campsite at Sumda Doksa.

Day 07

Sumda Doksa - Dung Dung Chan la base (4430 m): 4-5 hours: After a short walk and some river crossings we reach the village of Sumda Chenmo. From here we follow the left side of the valley before cutting through thickets of wild rose bushes to reach another river crossing, and then negotiating a steep ascent over Lanak, the campsite for the night, which commands great views of the surrounding mountains range.

Day 08

Dung Dung Chan La base - Chiling (3550 m)- Leh: 5 hours: Today's trek mainly involves a straight climb to Dung-dung Chan La top (4820m), which provides grand views of the Stok Khangri peaks and the Zanskar Range. From here the descent is gradual along a ridge toward the continually narrowing valley before reaching the village of Chiling, famous for the tradition of a variety of metalwork which are supplied to the Leh markets. Transport will be waiting at Chilling for the 3-hour drive to Leh.

Day 09

At Leh: Leisurely day at Leh for rest after the long trek. In the afternoon, you may like to visit Leh Palace & Shanti Stupa & then explore the city centre and the markets at your own pace for picking up some souvenirs to take back home. Dinner & overnight at the hotel.

Day 10

Departure: Early morning transfer to the airport for taking the flight back home.
